Intro to Latinx Studies

Some people have asked for extensions, which I am happy to do. Submit projects and rationales by Monday May 13th by 11 pm.  For your final projects please upload them to either Soundcloud (if it's a podcast) or YouTube (if it's a video). Email me the link. Make sure your content is public so that I can access it. I am asking you to upload your projects and make them publicly available because they should be shared as part of the Latinx Studies scholarship you have all created. Think about who have you made this content for? How can it reach the most amount of people?

The final bargaining between the union and Admin will occur on April 15. So that means this week's classes will continue as scheduled. You can upload your proposal via this link. Only one person from your group needs to fill out the google form (make sure all group members are listed though). For Thursday's class make sure that you use your discussion post to write about a few questions you make have for the artist-author. You can check out Cristy C.   We are meeting today at 4pm in the lobby of the Newark Public Library , 5 Washington Street.   We are visiting the Puerto Rican Community Archives, it is a collection of materials from the Puerto Rican community in Newark and New Jersey. I want you to think about how we make knowledge. Where do people get the information they use to write the books we read, the videos we watch or the podcasts we listen to? Review your CLOSE UP questions, so you have some questions to ask the librarian and archivist on your visit.

Send me your revised essays as word attachments by 4pm today. Next week we are reviewing for the midterm so go over your notes and class materials. Bring any questions or concerns to class on Tuesday.

Happy snow day! As you may have received notice from the university, RU-N class are cancelled today. Continue with the reading scheduled for today and the documentary for Thursday. There will still be a reading quiz in class (now you have an extra 2 days! to prepare) and a blog post due on Thursday by 12 pm. On the course website the assignment prompt for the essay (due Feb 19) is available, please review it and bring any questions you have to class, we we also talk through it as well. Also, I still need you to take that mid-semester survey for class, so bring in a laptop, tablet or phone that you can use to take an on-line survey. Enjoy the time off from class! Stay warm!
